Score Your Meetings
I have been in a lot of bad meetings. I suspect you have well. The worst ones feel like someone is pumping valium in the room.
Time slows down. You feel your energy dropping. You start looking around the room for something to focus on. Your mind wanders to your grocery list. You are thinking anyplace but here.
Meetings can be so much better. After all your time is valuable. Meetings can be productive places, where you feel the energy in the room. You can see time flying by. You can be amazed with the amount of work your getting done.
The question is how do you know what kind of meeting your having?
How can you be honest in assessing the meetings you run?
How can you verify your running meetings valuable to your team?
It simple. Keep score. Pick a number between 1-5. 1-10. Ask your team to vote on how well the meeting went for them.
Even better, ask them how likely they are to recommend your meeting to one of their colleagues…
… to attend a meeting run by you.
Keep track of your average over time. This lets you know how well you’re doing, How valuable your meetings are to your team.
The more data you collect, the more resolution you get on the meetings you lead. It lets you adjust to create meetings attendees find valuable to them.
Before you know it, you’ll have teams sharing how you run your meetings with teams and colleagues.
It’s how we got started.
